Good Afternoon AOTMS Community,

The temperature is not at 100 degrees – yet! We are still experiencing 90 degree balmy days with a slight breeze.

It is not quite the scorcher that will consume us in June, but it is still hot outside. Wearing a sweatshirt outside in 90 degree weather can increase body temperature by almost 10 degrees.

Please encourage your children to take off sweatshirts in this weather. HEAT ILLNESSES ARE REAL! – Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Stay pool wise during the summer months!

Academics

We are nearing the end of the finish line of the academic marathon.

Have you checked in with your child’s teacher? Have you checked on grades in Infinite Campus and/or google Classroom? Please take time to check these grades and ask questions about assignments or other items that need clarity.

Many teachers are offering students an opportunity to catch up on assignments during after school tutoring. Please reach out to individual teachers for these questions.

There will be an opportunity on Wednesday, May 8th from 345 - 5p for students to stay behind and complete assignments.

Students will also be able to come to the school on Saturday, May 12th from 9a - 12p to complete any outstanding assignments. Please take advantage of these opportunities.

Breakfast/Lunch

Please remind your child(ren) to pick-up breakfast and/or lunches that they have ordered. We want to make sure that we are being good stewards and not wasting food. Thank you for your continued support in this area.

Free food is a great way to start the day!

6th Grade Chess Tourney

We have a winner!. Toma Walker is our 6th grade chess tournament winner. He awaits the winner of the 7th/8th grade chess tournament. If you are a 7th/8th grade student and would like to sign-up for a chance at the $40.00 gift card –please let me know.

We would like to do the tournament this week.

Special Acknowledgments

Congratulations to the newly inducted National Junior Honor Society students! Each of you are an amazing addition to the team. I know that you will be well served under the tutelage of Mrs. Weaver.

A Message From Theatre

The AOT Theatre Department proudly presents our spring production - You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!, May 17/18 at 7pm and May 19 at 2pm. Tickets are $7, with a family pack of 4 available for $25. Tickets can be purchased directly from Mr. Y. Seating is limited and we did sell out the last show, so get your tickets soon - you won’t want to miss this delightful production! Attendance matters – please make sure that you arrive on time each day for school

Dont’s

Dress code including hair color is a part of attendance. Please make sure that your child(ren) adhere to the dress code.
